A quick intro of my self. Been trading crypto for a number of years and most success has been due to luck. Have got into trading with bots and the indicators i have been using need tweeking to what I need. Decided to look into Pine Script and found this site from the You Tube videos.
I have no programming background at all but have embarked on learning and have modifies scripts to suit what I need. This is mostly through trial and error. I can see ways to improve it by now that I have tested it by adding the script of another indicator to stop an alert being printed. My big struggle is taking a script that is in Version 4 and adding it to a script that is a lower version. My knowledge does not allw me to convert the earlier version to the older version.
Is there any resourse or manual that is available or is there someone that can convert it or point me in the right direction.
Anyway, exciting times ahead and hope my scripting can improve.
Edit to add more info
I do not trade forex but trade crypto. Usually ETF's so only go long as use up and down coins
So after going through numerous youtube videos I now have a working script that I am backtesting. God its boring but I can see what Matt means when he says you have to do it. It is much easier to spot a bad entry after studying the chart going through the testing.
I am now trying to turn the script into a strategy but finding this much more difficult to achieve. I havent managed to find any videos to go through how to get position size in the script that creates the correct position size relative to the ATR settings I have created in my script. eg. with a fund of $100,000 and a 1% if total fund per trade risk a high ATR may mean a $5,000 position size may be required but a low ATR may mean it is a $12,000 position size.
I have tried going through the Hammers and Stars Code but to no avail. A point in the right direction would be much appreciated
